Early A500 games, yeah. Later ones often need the 512K trapdoor expansion. Having two floppy drives also helped a lot in some cases (otherwise disk-swapping could become onerous). I eventually bought one of those A500 expansion things that went on the left side of the machine with a HDD and 2 extra megs RAM. Pretty much had to in order to play big games like Might & Magic III and big adventure games. However, I played through all of Loom and the first Monkey Island with just two floppy drives + trapdoor memory expansion, and that setup was plenty good enough for lots of things.

The HDD was also really nice for just booting into Workbench quickly and using text editor, Deluxe Paint, or AmigaBasic, and other stuff like that. Unfortunately I don't have my old code or images anymore, but here's a nice one someone posted on eab.abime.net recently.
