I rarely if ever beat old games. am I in the wrong here? very often, first few levels are the most interesting ones in games, and the last stretch before the final is just long and gruesome. for example, I played Mega Man X a lot of times, but after I get hadouken, I just lose interest. last stages of Sonic 2 also ruin it for me, although I like the game a lot. also, fuck the bonus stages in Sonic 2.

I'm about about to replay the MMX series. Are there any patches I should know about for each game?

Games where you wouldn't change a thing, where it seems like everything was executed well and then developers achieved their goal. Even games where you can think of things you'd change butnot'd be no noticeable improvement.

Pic related. You're a robot(reploid in canon) who needs to be strong and fast to take down his enemies. During the course of your adventure you only get stronger and faster while facing more challenging situations. You are set up so that you can easily master the game, and even if you don't with enough cunning and brute force you can beat it.

Keep in mind simplicity, cliches and predictability don't need to be a factor. Can you understand the mechanics of the game? Is it fair? Does it accomplish whatnot sets out to do? Most importantly can you sink into it and just play?

other good examples are things like Simcity 2K and Doom.

>let my 3 year old nephew play MMX1 the other day as his first videogame
>he eventually starts crying because it's "too hard"
Jesus fucking christ. What the fuck is wrong with Zoomers? I started gaming with the NES, which I got for my 7th birthday in 1987. Tons of games had me by the balls, but I NEVER cried a single god damn time. If I got a Game Over and had to restart the whole game, I'd just roll my sleeves up and try again.

I just recently learned that some people prefer classic Megaman over Megaman X. They must not have played much of it. Boy, are they missing out.

Megaman X is truly the evolution of Megaman and going back to the classic series with Megaman IX was a huge mistake.

X is superior in every way. The X series introduced a dark and complex plot with character development outside Megaman and Dr. Light getting duped by Dr. Wily over and over again.

The enhanced movement options such as the air dash and wall jumping open up a more exciting and dynamic world.

The movement of X is smoother and the level designs are more consistent and are not just disappearing blocks over death spikes repeated over and over in different settings.

This game is nowhere near as fun as the Classic games.
Why do people love this so much?

What's up with the "Thunder Slimer" fight? The lag literally causes my dash to not come out sometimes even though I repeatedly press it. Also, because of the lag when you're wall jumping you actually end up shooting your charged shot offscreen because the game can't handle quick inputs that well.

How the hell are you supposed to know the order to beat the bosses? Do they really just assume we all have infinite time to do trial and error?

Just started playing this for the first time to see what all the fuss is about. Beaten 3 bosses so far. How important are those hearts you see mid-level? Does the game become impossible if you don't collect them? Are you supposed to play through the same level multiple times?

I think the better series is MMX.
The story is coherent and the graphics were superb.

Figure this is a good place to ask

I really like the megaman x games, but dont really like classic megaman.

Is this because the X games are easier or something? I cant figure out why I just dont get into the classic ones. How do megaman fans feel about the X series?

I've played through classic 1 and 2.

Why is Mega Man X the best Mega Man game and the best 16-bit platformer ever made?

I didn't want to like this game, but I've really been enjoying it so far. Using the blaster shot only so far, but the final boss segment is pants on head retarded.

Mega Man X for SNES by a long shot. This "Cast Roll" is the most beautiful ending to a video game ever. That feel when the guitar changes riffs and X starts to run the freeway. I get tears in my eyes every time.

Mega Man X. Been about 2 years now since I played it I think, but I still don't really get why people like it that much.

It feels sluggish and floaty versus the NES Mega Man games. I'm up for change, but it mechanically didn't add anything that seemed to justify it. Maybe the wall jumps? But some Mario games have wall jumps as well while still retaining the same feel to the character's weight/movement.

For awhile I was wondering if people were more awed by its presentation. Like, maybe it was one of their first 16-bit games? Iit looks good for an early SNES title but apparently it's a late 1993 release, which is pretty far along in the system's life.

I've asked those same friends on some thoughts but I pretty much just get "Well, it's because you didn't grow up with it." For me, that's a pretty unsatisfying answer.

I'd be curious to hear anyone's thoughts about why MMX considered a classic.
