>Are helixes worthless?
Depends on your definition of worthless.
The 2 main benefits of helixes is horizontal space conversion and an additional excitement boost.
For the former, you can descend much more easily in tight (length-wise) spaces.
For the latter, helix excitement bonuses stack up to 9 helixes, which is translated into
(9 * 254862) bit-shifted to the right by 16 = 34 = 0.34 excitement.
The biggest disadvantage of the helix is the cost. The excitement bonus is somewhat negligible, so it will take a while to make your money, even with optimal pricing.

>so no coaster using just helixes to descend meets normal coaster requirements.
That sucks, yeah. Does your coaster have inversions? There is a small list of coasters that will ignore all drop-related requirements when an inversion is present.
Just from memory, the Corkscrew coaster, Twister coaster and Giga coaster do this.

Not true, not all coasters with access to inversions drop their drop requirements just because they have access to inversions.
