Give it maybe like 14-20 party members. Over half of the roster I never ended up using. Make the party members more unique and make the game harder and with more unique enemies so you actually have a reason to use different party members in battle. And with less party members, give each one their own unique weapon, maybe.

All the lore that is dumped on the player on the beach right before the final boss should be spread across a bit better.

I don't think SE can really be trusted at this point, that and I doubt they could get the dream team together again for a big project.

CC had a pretty complete ending, it was ambiguous in terms of the characters but lavos is dead finally. Unless you wanted a completely new story.
