It feels quite different from your standard Sonic installment, and in a way it feels a lot more like a sequel to Sonic 1 than Sonic 2 was, there's more of a focus on platforming and exploration, with a level design that comes off as a bit... blocky from time to time compared to the slopes and hills on most Sonic titles... but it works, and once you get a feel for it, it can quickly turn into a favorite too.

I used to dislike it, because I played it as if it was Sonic 2, but then I decided to take my time and really explore, trying to travel back in time to get to those robot generators and destroy them too.

After this playthrough, where I adapted to their style instead of trying to force my own, the flow I expect from Sonic eventually came, just different and unique. I actually adore Sonic CD nowadays.

I used to dislike Sonic CD too, it felt clunky and it didn't have a good flow like Sonic 2 had, so I beat it while I marathoned Sonic... but then didn't feel like playing it ever again... until I did, but I wanted to try something different... instead of playing it as if it was Sonic 2, going fast, spin dashing while going for the Time Stones, I decided to explore it and go for all the generators in the past instead...

It opened up unlike anything I had ever played, it felt like I was playing a completely different title and I loved it, exploring as Sonic, travelling back in time through all pinball styled levels... I love it.

I'm honestly getting sick of all the Sonic threads here on /vr/ recently... I'm not bashing you, OP. I just feel that they always end up with the whole "Sonic was never good" and "Sonic's conceptually and fundamentally flawed" arguments... I'm not sure why this always happens, but it does and it seems to be turning into a more popular view on Sonic. Well, whatever, I hope this thread's fun.

I get disliking the autistic fanbase, but honestly I find that to be exaggerated, most fanbases have a ton of autism, perhaps not as much as Sonic I guess, but Sonic fans' autism is good sometimes.

I can't think of many fanbases with as many good and well made fan projects the way Sonic has, so many talented developers and also artists work on Sonic stuff, thanks to said autism, it's so nice.
