I think it is the head bob and mouth movements when the characters talk makes it look like those SCUMM games of yore. The artstyle and music of the Genesis Scooby Doo game definitely nails down the feel of some of my most beloved point & click adventure games from Lucasarts. I had no idea the audio was bad, since it sounded a lot like Soundblaster music similar to what I heard in those same Lucasarts games, but that's just most others don't like Yamaha sounds.

There's Noisy (Star) Assholes: Dear My Friends for MegaCD which even supported the mouse. It's got the humor of the series in a point/click adventure.

Just the Genesis one. It has a sort of Lucasarts aesthetic that captured me. It is impressive they were able to pull that off with the system architecture compared to PC.

Scooby Doo Mystery for the Genesis feels like a Lucasarts point-and-click adventure without being one. There are two scenarios, while easy, cool that they gave more than one story.

What game? I only remember the SNES game which was different in Japan called Ruka (lent out so no pic). Penny was pretty much the star of the show, with her folding screen iPad and smartwatch to communicate to Brain. The episodic story structure was that she did the real work while Gadget was in the right place to get all the credit.

Point and click adventures are a great genre to translate a show to video games. It can keep the characters and have a story structure just like the show. That's what made the Genesis Scooby Doo so cool to me.

There were doujins and official H art created. The Yuka character design in V.G. is so good, not only does she have a clone in Variable Geo, there's the clone in Viper V16/GTB in Akira.

Also got the bad Ranma on the left here too recently. No one bought it for years at the local store, and I asked the manager for a lower price and surprisingly got it. Haven't tried it yet, but as a fan of the series, may as well have one outlier since it was cheap.

My Sega Saturn from the mid 90s is still doing well, the only exception was someone placed one of those Gamesharks with the wider PCBs into the cart slot in the back stretching out those pins, so if I want to use the official RAM/backup carts I have to fold up some paper to tilt the cart. My other Sega Saturn systems have no issues even after playing it. I have had more reliability issues with Playstation and 360s, but never a Saturn.

I really love the Lucasarts point & click adventures so much that I had to get the Scooby Doo game on the Genesis because it looks so much like one of those games. It is a lot easier, but the style is impeccable and I still don't know how they did it.

When Shounen Jump took the effort to explain RPG mechanics of Wizardry for the release of Dragon Quest. Maybe Shueisha's Shounen Sunday could have pushed the point & click games for the Ranma and Urusei Yatura point & click adventures.
