While I have played Diablo 2 normally. I remember downloading some program that had a pretty cool interface outside the game which generated any item possible in the game and placing it into your storage in town. Playing through in hardcore mode with the most powerful possible items was more fun to me than playing it with the randomly generated gear. Would love to find that program again, since it is not as fun playing it the way the developers intended than cheating.

It takes a bit of time but you get used to it. I couldn't get used to the numpad controls where you can toggle 2 different styles with num lock on/off, but rather prefer the mouse plus ctrl/alt.

I remember walking into a CompUSA and on their shareware rack which had one I had not seen before anywhere else in computer show dealer rooms, trade shows, shareware catalogs, etc. So it was worth the $2USD to give Sango Fighter 2 a try and it is silly. The game is not polished but it was a very unique find. There are better out there, but it is not too bad for DOS.

I also realize I only have one yellowed retro ball mouse. Think the Deathadders convert to PS/2 okay? Any other mouse recommendations for PS/2?

Well shit. I guess it will just have to be a dedicated J-Win95/98SE machine. The only DOS/V game I have is Princess Maker 2 anyway. When I went cheap with the parts, just to aim for 98, I opted a P3-1.2GHz like >>4764006 did, but did not have the foresight to check for an ISA slot when getting a motherboard. I thought VXD drivers would be good enough from what I read and I did always want the Audigy in those days when I had the top Live! 5.1, so it will do for other Win games I intend on playing.

That's my only hope if I am going to attempt old DOS games on the 98 build. It is an ASUS TUSL2, not the popular TUSL2-C everyone on a google search has. I'm hoping for the best.

My DX4 is the AMD type. I am thinking of pairing it with the 4000. I was wondering if there are chips that can be slotted into the 4000. The Lightspeed 128 video card appears to have pads to solder more chips and a port into, I wonder what those were for. I think the Lightspeed 128 would fit the P5-75 best since I want to run SimCity 2000 on that. I remember one of my old PC-Gamer magazine recommended the Tseng cards over the faster, more expensive video cards, so I stuck with the brand as I did with Creative (though Zone66 was really trying to convince me to try out the Gravis Ultrasound).

Water, Earth, Fire, Air. Only the Avatar can master these four elements and ... oh wait, no, fuck you Avatar, this place is one of the Guardian's worlds. You only learn Earth after unspeakable acts defying your virtues, as water is hereditary, fire will fuck your shit, and the air titan just teases and uses you only to peace out without ever bestowing you any powers. It was a bit surprising to me, maybe because the manual described air spells and all, but no this world is oppressive ... and it is interesting because of that.

I never got the patch, I only got the speech pack. I kinda stopped playing PC games a bit after waiting forever for an expansion or sequel to 8. I originally thought Diablo was a completed version of 8, when I joined my friends at an internet cafe.

My introduction to the series is the 7 line of games, and they are some of my most favorite games. Even with the crack of the original SoundBlaster proceeding any voice samples, playing with large booming speakers turned up was enough to startle me when the Guardian speaks.

You! You're my hero! That's hilarious. I couldn't figure that out, as I thought they were protected by story. I tried to kill the Queen, she's the only water bender, and that's enough to kill in one shot, and she's even protected by the damn fire guy. It is satisfying that the queen dies horrifically by story if I remember correctly, a wonderful bloody body on her bed.
