I guess the 32X would have had the same growing pains as any other console: early on architecture is seen as a weakness but as the tech matures capable programmers would be able to wring more out of the machine and deliver experiences that were once thought impossible on the system. Had the 32X lived long enough to see that it probably would be more fondly remembered as a capable system.

>but it's silly if it doesn't have a Genesis built into it.
Are you under the impression that the Neptune wouldn't natively play Genesis games alongside 32X? Because that's what it sounds like.

If Sega wanted to prolong the life of the Genesis they probably should have invested in accelerator chips like Nintendo did. How different a situation would it have been if the 32X hardware was downsized to an on-board chip that could be included with every cartridge that required it? They had the SVP chip that was used in Virtua Racing but that didn't get used anywhere else, probably because of the 32X looming on the horizon.

Weird thing

when hooked up via composite, my 32X would basically blow out the colors of Genesis carts when played on it. Tested it with various other Genesis models and variations of cables but always caused the same problems no matter what. My test game was always Castlevania Bloodlines, the title screen would be blown out to hell and back to the point it hurt to look at.

Earlier in the year I got a pair of HD Retrovision's Genesis component cables. When I used them with the 32X, it completely solved the blowing out problem. Now I only have to remove the 32X if I want to use the PBC.

I love the fact the CDX works with everything.

The Power Base Converter also fits on a CDX without issue.

reminder that the CDX is the ultimate Sega system

Well okay so the Xeye has S-video, but the CDX can use the power base converter.

as much as I appreciate my power base converter works with it, it just doesn't look very good plugged into my CDX.

That's not particularly easy.

The Master System is a very capable system, but it doesn't have a lot of worthwhile games on it.

You'd realy be best off buying a Power Base Converter, but then your Genesis choices would be limited to the Genesis 1 or the CDX.
