Why are you playing xenogears if you don't want to enjoy the story and get immersed in the games world? Nowhere on the box does it saw the game is going to be a story light dungeon crawler.

Personally I love it, one of my favorite RPGs. The gameplay is fun actually. There's a couple annoying sections people complain about, like the platforming in one dungeon, but overall it's fine.

It's great, but in different ways than FFVII. >>5623614 is basically my opinion too. It's one of my favorite RPGs, but it tends to be a love it or hate it game. If the characters and world in Xenogears appeal to you, there's a good chance you'll love it.
