Starflight for the Genesis!

This game came out on just about every 8bit computer, but this version is the most playable by today's standards.

Starflight
It challenged me to figure out the trade system and hoard resources whenever possible. probably one of the better space sims of the time.

Survival Kids is a great game, but never talked about. It falls in with Starflight.

Starflight is also interesting because I never see this game talked about even though it's a quintessential survival space sim. It almost fits sandbox, too, you just can't really modify the surroundings.

You have a massive galaxy to explore full of other alien races you can interact with peacefully or in a war like way, and you land on planets to mine resources, fuel your ship, and make money.

This. Elite seems awesome too though. I wish I'd have known a NES version of it existed when I was a kid.
