You could always play Shining Force 3, or the CD games, but CD doesn't have the exploration.
There is also FEDA: Emblem of Justice, which got a translation patch and is basically a Shining Force like on the SFC as I understand it, it does have a Saturn remake but I don't think that has a translation.

I really like that camp picture. Also the little camp you setup for saving and talking to your crew in FEDA, that is also a neat idea, not strictly SF, but close enough. Haven't played through that proper yet though.

And yeah, just agreeing with you. Unfortunately it seems finding good quality versions of any art for the camelot games is difficult.

Oh man Shining Force thread? I love the hell out of this series. All the mainline ones are good, and the dungeon crawlers are pretty cool too if you're into that. Even the Zelda knockoff isnt so bad (Shining Wisdom).

3 is probably my favorite. In a way I'm kinda glad the series died off, because in my mind they could never surpass 3. It has a translation patch now but I actually bought a gameshark and the jap versions of the game and read a script online to play the 2nd and 3rd parts of the game.
