I like to give everything a shot and have a lot of patience for games that did not "age" well, but there's really nothing redeeming about Lagoon. It's a garbage Ys knockoff from a developer whose best game is probably Mr fucking Mosquito.

Some games really aren't worth your time.

Maybe this chart helps. It's not curated (at least the version I have here, might be others) but maybe it can point you in the right direction.

>Also where the shit are the YS games?
On the ARPG chart, not sure if they're all there.

If you liked Mana, maybe try Secret of Evermore, though it's not really as good as Mana. Very similar gameplay.
Meanwhile, here is an ARPG chart that gives you an idea of what to look at next.

Whenever new games fail to impress you, it is time to discover old ones.

I'm by your side OP. I don't complain too much since there are a lot of great and underappreciated retro games, but for time to time I wish I could play that modern videogame .

The worse of all is that there are almost no good debates around old videogames: There are no secrets anymore, all the information you could possibly need is inside a FAQ, no one shares excitement for replaying the games. If you stick enough time around here, you will figure out that threads revolve around suggestions and nostalgia (let alone collecting), which I don't since I never played those games when I was a child.

Now contrast it to threads about new games: everything is new, you can share your impressions on the game, you might actually discover something new that has not been reported in a wiki yet, and new games have a small chance to actually innovate.
