Saturn emulation is shit and I'm tired of pretending it's not.

Where does the myth that the Saturn was better at 2D than the PSX come from? The 2D fighters were better on Saturn because of the 4MB RAM cart, not any kind of underlying architectural superiority.

Sega's architecture is so advanced we'll have a PS5 emulator before a working Saturn emulator.
Some emulator enthusiasts have predicted it may take over 2 million years before computers can accurately emulate the Sega Saturn.

How did Sega do it?

The Saturn is such a "2D powerhouse" that its only real advantage over the PS1 hardware-wise is having more available ram to work with (only with the purchase of an external ram cart) and numerous serious architectural shortcomings like being incapable of opacity blending.

What is the state of Saturn emulation in 2022? I'm looking to run Saturn games on a handheld of some kind, preferably Nintendo Switch. Last time I tried Mednafen on PC it had noticeable input lag over real hardware and I couldn't figure out a way to increase the rendering resolution. SF and Yabause are dogshit.

why is it memed as the most powerful 2D console of all time? it was regularly beaten by the PSX. even under the best of circumstances the saturn could never have matched the transparency of PSX games like SOTN.
