>one of the two good sonic games
Zoomer opinions of Sonic need not apply, Sonic is for 90s kids and you're not one

Nobody cares you dumb zoomer. Limp Bizkit isn't good, Phantom Menace isn't good, and Nu-Sonic is not better than classic and is officially when the series became a joke in the overall gaming world, and that is historical fact. Your bullshit "my nostalgia" even though it's not really your era to be nostalgic about campaign is cringe and false, go back to /v/ or better yet, plebbit or youtube.

>complains about levels playing themselves even though 3D sonic is literally more or less on a track like a rail game
Retard
>complains about games being "too easy" while simultaneously complaining about running into pitfalls and obstacles because sucks at the game

The classics have distinct surrealist fantasy environments that are beautiful and iconic. This is lost in NuSonic’s mess of cityscapes, realistic textures, and environments devoid of style. Green Hill would not look better if you replaced the checkered ground with an HD dirt texture.

>B-B-BUT BABY WIKES MAH BOOOSTY!!!

Boost is all style and no substance, as made evident by: constant (and long) autopilot segments, hallway levels with zero freedom, speed that isn't earned, a low skill ceiling, minimal physics, and minimal points of interaction besides dodge left and right then occasionally mash homing attack. It's a shallow gotta-go-fast simulator while 2D sonic is a momentum-based platformer with pinball physics.

When I was a little kid, I hardly ever saw past the first couple stages in any game. I would usually pop in some game, play around until I got a game over (which was frequent because I didn't take the time to practice single games enough) or got bored or didn't know what to do then pop it out, pop a different one in, and repeat this process until I was done playing. I'm curious if anyone else gamed in this retarded no attention span way when they were younger? I always hear about people beating games as a young kid, and to me the idea was always like some pipe dream, and I didn't start beating games until I was an older teen. The exceptions to the rule were pretty much Super Mario Bros Deluxe and 1st gen Pokemon, probably because they were easy/addictive enough and got taken with me everywhere.

Excogitate with me as to how Mario 64 is not vintage Mario in three dimensions, but a collectathon adjunct (that supplanted the preeminent series similar to how Persona supplanted SMT). Contrarily, Mario 3D World is vintage Mario in three dimensions. There is desideratum for a Sonic game that is homologous to Mario 3D World. A 3D game that functions like the 2D games with the only dissimilitude being a supplementary dimension. A game with pinball physics, momentum, and genuine platforming contrary to homing attack spam and imbecilic boost.

Sonic was always more about pinball physics than brainless speed. The marketing focused on speed but the games did not. Boost and Adventure are not classic Sonic logically translated into 3D, they're gotta-go-fast simulators with a sonic skin. Instead of physics-based platforming you just spam homing attack. Instead of earning speed through maintaining momentum as you run and bounce through an obstacle course, you just push up and hit max speed in 1 second, then proceed to watch some auti-pilot bullshit until it's time to mash homing attack again.

Why game journalists are trash :

●Reliance on the industry they cover for their revenue creates a conflict of interest; Criticize an advertisers game and they stop buying adspace (see: Kain & Linch).
●The consumer culture is dominated by fanboy mentalities. Legitimate criticism of baby’s favorite toy results in hatemail and death threats, so IPs that are too popular are off limits.
●You can watch a movie and review it the same day. Many games are 40 hours+. For this reason most reviews are only based on the very beginning of a game.
●The scoop mentality created by the 15 second attention window of the average internet user.
●Outrage culture makes it so contrarianism and insulting the target audience guarantees a lot of clicks.
●Most employees are failed journalism majors not genuinely interested in the hobby with minimal knowledge of the subject and a low skill level.

Consider how Mario 64 is not classic Mario in 3D, it's a collectathon spin-off (that overtook the main series similar to how Persona overtook SMT). Mario 3D World on the other hand, is classic Mario in 3D. There needs to be a Mario 3D World for Sonic. A 3D game that that plays like the 2D games simply with an added dimension. A game with pinball physics, momentum, and actual platforming instead of homing attack spam and boost.

They were warming you fit what was to come. Classic Sonic is charming and wholesome (the attitude BS comes from marketing) and looks much more like a little animal that can roll into a ball. NuSonic looks like a lanky smarmy tryhard that listens to Limp Bizkit and never shuts up with corny lingo that was outdated 20 years before he first spoke. Shadow is a cringey gun carrying edgelord who swears for no reason, has a human girlfriend who is murdered by the government, and he can die via firing squad. Metal meanwhile is just a cool robot.

3D sonic suffers from everything that is wrong modern gaming: constant autopilot segments that take control away from the player, a focus on style over substance, hallway levels with zero freedom, speed that isn't earned, a low skill ceiling, etc… It's style over substance. 3D sonic doesn't have to suck (Utopia proved that), but so far it's been a shallow gotta-go-fast simulator while 2D sonic is a momentum-based platformer with pinball physics.

Mario 64 is not Classic Mario in 3D, it's a collectathon spin-off that overtook the main series similar to how Persona overtook SMT. Mario 3D World on the other hand, is classic mario in 3D. Similarly, boost and adventure are not Classic Sonic translated into 3D, they're gotta-go-fast simulators with a sonic skin. It's just something totally different. There needs to be a Mario 3D World for sonic. A 3D game that that plays like the 2D games simply with an added dimension. A game with pinball physics and momentum. A game with actual platforming instead of homing attack spam and boost.

Crash Bandicoot is another good example: what made crash special was being the only 5th gen 3D Platformer designed like a 2D platformer, and was hardcore to boot. Imagine a Sonic game that played like a mix of crash and 3D world with momentum based pinball physics.
