I've moved all of my beatmania sessions over to the MiSTer. Since it's the only rhythm game on the console which has a dedicated community that I can share scores with, it's motivated me even more to get good. Other than that, I've been playing several other games on the side like Slap Happy Rhythm Busters and Bust A Groove series.

>pc engine mini
Honest Q: why would you buy a pc engine mini, when you can run it on an FPGA, like MisterFPGA

So where the fuck are the scripts to just download all the romsets for all the cores? already have the arcade scripts just need the console ones.

Anybody else heard about the MiSTer? It's a hardware emulator which on paper seems to be more accurate than software emulation. What is supposed to make it superior is that it takes into account how each chip and processor is supposed to function at the hardware level but only relies on instructions which is why it requires less processing power. Whereas software emulation relies on the CPU to be fast enough to keep all functions in sync. [Correct me if I am wrong].

How good is this? People are talking about it like it does the normie 8 and 16 bit consoles as good as the original plus a whole lot of "perfect" arcade cores but it sounds almost too good to be true.

If you own a MISTer there is no reason to own an early 90’s console. Unlike emulation, which is close, the experience with a FPGA is identical to actual hardware and costs way less.

Why haven't you joined the MiSTer master race?

>who is this thing made for?
People who don't own a CRT but want to play SNES games as authentically as possible.
>please explain why i shouldn't just get a pi
The Super NT is very accurate to the original console. I would rather get pic related over either of them though.

Is this FPGA shit legit or should I stick with Raspberry Pi?

Thoughts on the MiSTer FPGA units and existing cores? Got curious about about them after seeing some vids from Smokemonster. Last time I looked into it the only cores that were fully developed were western micros like the Amiga, ZX Spectrum and C64 with console and arcade cores lagging behind.
I'd rather have an NT Mini but they're very expensive and may as well be out of production since they haven't been in stock in a long while.

At risk of being accused of shilling, at this point September 2018 I'm going to have to tentatively give my endorsement for what it's worth to the MiST open source FPGA project although the current "runahead" work being done in the emulation scene is quite competitive
