This is the Xbox S controllers grandfather.
You can see that Microsoft took inspiration from this as well as the Dreamcast controller in it's final controller design.

Ok, I can understand the screwhole on the older gravis gamepad, but here with the handle, using a joystikc must be horrible. I never tried it though.

Anyway, why not use a modern controller and emulate an old ass controller? Somthing like the PS4 controller of the Wii U pro controller are pretty ace for old 2D games.

They don't have the retro flavor, but they have great dpad and buttons.

Anyway, here was my controller during the 90s, I used it mainly to play consoles games on emulator, good times. It's named Microsoft Sidewinder Gamepad and it rocks.

What is peoples opinions on this sidewinder gamepad? I just got one from my coworker but I cant use it until I get a gameport to USB adapter. It feels really nice in your hands and I seems like it would be great for fightan games if the buttons were responsive.
