A tropic vacation themed episode ala Duke Caribbean : Life's A Beach, where everyone is dressed up for it, sunglasses, sunhats, hawaii shirts, shorts and bikinis, etc.

Shelly in daisy dukes, sandals, sunhat, sunglasses, tanktop/bikini top, sunscreen on her nose, with a big powerful super soaker that can fire a freezing shot as an alt, and explosive pineapples or coconuts for bombs.
Don't even have to be substantial changes, just reskin most things to be a vacation theme, with a couple of new things here and there, and make some vacation themed levels with some cheery and festive music.
They'll pay for crashing her vacation.

A lot of people aren't that fond of Ep2 (and Ep1 is quite short).
Ep3 is pretty strong, and Ep4 has some of the best maps of the base game.

If you really want something fun with Duke Nukem, try out Duke Caribbean, it's an episode with a real fun tropical vacation reskin.

Mostly classic Doom and modding classic Doom (both mods and maps from before the year 2000, and after), but most people here also like a lot of other 90's shooters.
Games like Quake and Duke Nukem 3D are revered as greats, among many others, and on the subject of modifying Doom many will take a page or two from cherished classics like these, either on a superficial level or on core gameplay mechanics (I'm guilty of both).

Quake 3 Arena doesn't get a lot of discussion, but there's people here who're fond of it (it's one of the few multiplayer shooters I was ever particularly fond of, next to Day Of Defeat and Counter-Strike), and if you were to ask if anyone wants to play a game you could throw up a server and maybe play with some people.
Most people play singleplayer games here but there's the occasional multiplayer.

I don't think that's unpopular, most people who played it seem very fond of it. It's a solid episode with a very nicely done theme wrapping.

Problem is that not a lot of people got to play it, it wasn't on market for all that long, and didn't sell all that much. I only found out about it and played it because I got gifted Megaton Edition on the PS3, went in not knowing what to expect, and I was very pleasantly surprised.

>it just has a 'vacations' feel in it
Exactly! It has all the aesthetics, the themes, the atmosphere.
It's cheerful, pretty and funny!

I can practically smell the ocean and the chlorinated pools, feel the warm wind in my hair.

Atomic is nice, though the quality of The Birth is highly varied, it has some of the best maps in the original game, the final two maps of Atomic are fucking amazing, I love Derelict.

The other one is Duke Caribbean, fucking fantastic episode, good levels all around, cheerful and wonderful atmosphere, everything is vacation themed, the pig cops wear sunglasses and aloha shirts (in various colors).
The music is amazing, and they got a perfect impersonator to do Duke's lines for this episode (you'd never believe it wasn't J.S.J if I didn't tell you).
Really, they take the vacation concept and run with it, and make a very well held together episode that's very cheerful and enjoyable, it'll put a smile on your face!

Duke It Out In D.C is sort of ok, some of the maps are boring, a few are pretty bad, and then there's one map, Smithsonian Terror, which is based on the Smithsonian Museum (to scale, by the way), this is a huge level, and you'll either love it or hate it. I only really liked the submarine level, personally.

Nuclear Winter is a frozen turd, don't bother playing it.

Duke Nukem Caribbean: Life's a Beach

It's an episode for Duke Nukem 3D, featuring some very good levels (some of the best official levels probably), and some fun and cool vacation stylings.

The weapons are waterguns and coconut bombs, the enemies are dressed up in aloha shirts and sunglasses, when you kick you can see Duke is wearing sandals.

Which ones are, the Drones or the Viles?
The Drones are vicious melee fighters and have the capability to discharge a shrinking ray from their body, which is a HUGE hazard, because then even a lowly assault trooper or pig cop can be a huge hazard, besides the drone itself crunching you (and it's fast, so it may very well do so).

Because they're fast, have special abilities can do damage quickly, and can take a beating, I think they match up somewhat to Arch-Viles, who are fast, can deal damage quickly and have special abilities that can make shit difficult for you in a hurry.
Though Arch-Viles are scarier.

Really? I haven't actually checked out user mapsets for Duke, because i wasn't sure of how it worked, if it was as easy as loading a .wad for Doom
Shame, it's a pretty great weapon.

Another I love is the Freezer, which is actually really good, it can put a Drone in the parking gear in a real hurry, and it can also deflect shots at angles, at a cost of damage, sure, but offering a tactical advantage.

The pipebombs and the RPG feel terribly good with their booming explosions scattering enemies in parts everywhere.
The pistol is also pretty great once you have a supply of magazines, not a powerhouse but it's dependable in that you can carry quite a lot of bullets and it shoots fast, giving you a decent chance of stunning weaker enemies so they can't attack you back as frequently (or at all).

Tripmines can be good, but I almost never find myself using them on enemies, more often than not I'll use them as demolition charges to get through walls, so I can save pipebombs and rockets for violence. (this can usually be done safely if there's space to trip the laser from a distance).

Are there any mapsets made with Duke Caribbean as a base? I loved it and would like more. However, I really liked the soundfont, the echo-y like quality Megaton Edition put on the music, can this be emulated in another sourceport?
