In this Thread we SING the Segata Sanshiro song together:

The solitary man who devoted his soul to the way of games
Today, he comes again
He will punish those who do not play seriously
Their battered bodies will never forget!

[chorus] Segata Sanshiro, Segata Sanshiro! Sega Saturn... shiro!

They play tennis, sing karaoke, flirt around in clubs...
Are there not more serious tasks to be done?
Those who do not play maturely
He questions them deep inside their hearts

Segata Sanshiro, Segata Sanshiro! Sega Saturn... shiro!

(voice of Segata)
Youngsters... is there something in your life you are completely devoted to? Something you sink into so deep you put your life on the line? You must play Sega Saturn! Play... until your fingers break! Until your fingers break!

Even if they chase after sex, that petty pleasure
Their soul will remain hollow
Those who do not immerse themselves to the extreme in gaming
Will find their bodies beaten harshly!

Segata Sanshiro, Segata Sanshiro! Sega Saturn... shiro!

The white clouds floating on the great blue sky
And the boiling red bloodshed in fierce gaming
Those who give up halfway through
Their battered bodies will never forget!

Segata Sanshiro, Segata Sanshiro! Sega Saturn... shiro!
Segata Sanshiro, Segata Sanshiro! Sega Saturn... shiro!

Is getting a Saturn with a phantom chip worth it? I wanna to play Policenauts on a physical system, and I've always wanted to own a saturn, but I don't know if the library is worth it.

Alright.
JP has 100v outlets. A JP saturn will run at 100v.
US has 120v outlets. You can get by running a JP saturn on US outlets, but it might shorten the life of the PSU a bit.
If I'm remembering right, EU has 220-240 volt outlets. You plug a 100v JP saturn into that and it's going to blow. You NEED a step-down converter to play JP consoles in EU. They're only 20 bucks.

I have one on the way and have some questions since I never owned one before.

1st: I have done some research and see that one can play Japanese games rather easily by simply getting an action replay but well looking for games I discovered an Ultraman game that comes with it's own memory card. How would one go about playing it while the action replay is being utilized?

2nd: I'm a little fuzzy on how saving games works on the Saturn. I see that there is a watch battery that is used on the console itself and that there also memory cards. Do you need a memory card to save games or can you simply save to the console?

3rd: How robust are the consoles themselves? Do they have potential health problems like the PC Engine/Turbografx?

Hey /vr/. I acquired a Sega Saturn a few months ago, but I still don't have any games for it. What are some decent games worth getting that aren't going to burn a hole in my wallet? NA releases are preferred, but I'll consider imports even though I don't have an Action Replay yet.

Also, might as well turn this into a general Saturn recommendation thread.
