I doubt yaoi in eroge was popular back in 80s-90s.
The only yaoi stuff I found was form Sotsugyou Ryokou and True Love (Jun'ai Monogatari) when you fail at getting any girls.

True Love has a consolation price (yaoi ending) if you fail to get any girls.
I think the yaoi ending requirement are you fail to get any girls and you lend a video game called Final Fuck 7 (parody of FF7) to your buddy.
No CG for the yaoi ending though.
I played a dating sim (no stat training) game before True Love with a similar consolation price but with some CG.
I was surprised because that's the first time I was exposed to that kind of stuff.
