It's true that there were lots of shoot-em-ups and arcade conversions, but there were also quite a few platformers, (A)JRPGs, puzzle games and even a few good pinball games.

VNs and point&click aren't all that prominent, and were usually there because it was the only successful home CD console. Most of them were on Japanese PCs like PC-98 or FM Towns.

One of the most underrated consoles of all time. Everyone seems to disregard it because it's CPU was 8-bit, but it was just as worthwhile as the Genesis/MD and SNES was...

...If you lived in Japan, that is.

If you get a PC Engine with the CD attachment(or the PCE Turbo) you'll find tons of forgotten gems in it's library. Here is a site with reviews of most good TG-16/PCE games:
