X is a peacemaker, not a pacifist. Sure he regrets having to kill people to save people, but he does so after the job is done. If there's even one innocent person's life at stake, it's charged shot diplomacy and that's the end of it.

He's really just a selfless upstanding guy. He won't hesitate to help people or offer the peaceful solution but he also won't hesitate to kill the shit of troublemakers when innocent lives are in danger.
