OP, you probably took the largest number of low-IQ moves through this whole game and came out on top. Bravo

>I played the original release on PlayStation.
That's actually one of the hardest versions so an additional congratulations for that.
Reposting my shitass play order copypasta::
This is my recommended playing order which skips easy difficulties and focuses on console versions for English speakers primarily. Always Jill first, then Chris:
US DC Original
JP SAT Version
JP SAT Battle Game
US DC Arrange
US DC DS Original
US DC DS Arrange
US Original
US SAT Version
US SAT Battle Game
Deadly Silence Original
Deadly Silence DS special features mode where you stab zombies with the stylus

>while the dualshock version has the American difficulty in standard mode
I thought DualShock Director's Cut had the Japanese difficulty for Original mode but with two ink ribbons. Someone load it up and shoot some hunters with the magnum. If they consistently die in one hit it's the Japanese difficulty.
Need to make my own shitty copypasta for this. This is my recommended playing order which skips easy difficulties and focuses on console versions for English speakers primarily. Always Jill first, then Chris:
US DC Original
JP SAT Version
JP SAT Battle Game
US DC Arrange
US DC DS Original (Assuming difficulty noted as above otherwise skip it if you really hate clown farts that much compared to the rest of the OST)
US Original
US SAT Version
US SAT Battle Game
Deadly Silence Original
Deadly Silence DS special features mode where you stab zombies with the stylus

For all of these, do Jill, then Chris:
PS1 Non-DualShock Director's Cut Original Mode
JP Saturn Biohazard
JP Saturn Biohazard Battle Game
PS1 Non-DualShock Director's Cut Arrange Mode
Original PS1 RE
US Saturn RE
US Saturn RE Battle Game
For funsies, Deadly Silence Original and Arrange Modes
If you go in the order I've listed you get a balance of escalating difficulty and general release order timeliness. The US original RE on PS1 and Saturn has no auto-aim and tougher enemies which is why I listed them after Arrange Mode in Director's Cut. Deadly Silence is like a bonus game dessert. JP Saturn version has some slightly better gore effects and a bonus ending if you only use the infinite rocket launcher. The REbirth mod for the PC version is pretty good and starts with the JP difficulty on a first run and then switched to US difficulty for each run thereafter.

>Be me, Wesker
>Work two high-ranking jobs by acting very serious all the time
>Lure teammates into a biological weapon nightmare
>Twenty-something lady runs through a trapped mansion with expert proficiency
>Solves puzzles with pieces found across the mansion literal minutes prior
>Start wondering if she's a savant or has telepathy
>Woman encounters giant snake, curves left, ignores it, and grabs a crest
>Later shoots it four times with a grenade launcher without moving
>Giant snake dies
>Woman dances in front of a giant fucking spider, tricking it into burning its own spider-webbed door
>She eventually foils all of my plans and destroys my biggest project with a rocket launcher her team seized and kept on a helicopter for some reason
Yeah, I'd shit my pants too.

True, also played it without auto-aim. Like the other anon said, the final bosses in each scenario were quite challenging (especially G4), but other than that - much easier than RE1.
RE3 is a different story tho, had to ran away from Nemesis fights a lot, especially at the beginning when I didn't have enough gun powder for freeze rounds.

Here's the /vr/ guide, info on that matter is surprisingly hard to google for some reason. People mostly compare gore in the opening FMV and clowns farting in the basement, rarely mention the auto-aim in DC at best. Only found this pic after I played most of the versions myself.

Even on my phone I wear earphones for more immersive games and only play them when I can take my time. But maybe you're right, I haven't played any horror games other than Resident Evil, so I should play this properly to get into the genre.

best I got is this one. There's one for RE2 as well, if you need it.
