If you think F-Zero GX is crazy just wait until you learn of Vertexer.

Obligatory Vertexer post!

It actually just came to me that Wyvern F-0 after all these years has been finally dumped a year ago. Here's hoping webm related becomes available in the near future as well.

Speaking of Wyvern F-0,
>The game boards produce two separate video outputs that are sent to two different screens housed in the cabinet. A half-silvered mirror is used to mix the images from the two screens in such a way as to produce a pseudo-3D effect. Backgrounds and enemies on the ground are displayed in the lower screen, while player ship and enemies in the air are displayed in the upper screen. These appear to be at different depths to the eyes of the player, thus giving the illusion of sprites in the air floating above the ground.
>To further enhance the effect, the cabinet also has two speakers. The sound of enemies on the ground is heard from the bottom speaker, while the sound of enemies in the air is heard from the top speaker.

Quite possibly the most innovative arcade developers together with SEGA.

ITT: retro games that are yet to be emulated, either due to bullshit copyright protection, due to rarity, due to being unreleased/cancelled, or due to any other reason.

Taito's Vertexer had a limited release in 1993 as part of the IDYA motion cabinet, with only 10 units apparently manufactured. It has been obtained and as far as I'm aware dumped but is yet to be added to MAME.

The game itself acts as a spiritual successor to Epoch's Star Speeder for the Super Collecovision, and boasts super-fast gameplay and abstract futuristic visuals that predate F-Zero GX and Wipeout HD/Fury by a whole decade.
