Here are posts from arstechnica back in 1999.
But why are so many people saying PSX back in 1999 before the PS2 came out. I wonder why... It must be because they realized the PS2 was coming out and people would look shit up on the internet so instead of naturally saying a common and natural phrase identified with the playstation, they'd say PSX so future generations of asshole could be right that no one actually said. Thereby proving themselves masters of time as well proving that they were hipsters using the term long before it came into general usage, because it wasn't ever used in before the PS2 was released, ever.
