/vr/ - Retro Games

Being nintencel OoT was my favourite game growing up, but I was always jealous of PS for FF7 cause cloud seemed cool and it was celebrated. FF7 was released Jan 1997, OoT Nov 1998, but for some reason I always considered them the titans of their platforms for quality experiences (I'd argue over MGS, Mario, Crash etc.). Recently beat FF7 and honestly it's amazing and I think a better story over OoT hands down, but still reluctant to say it's a better game.

Was there ever fandom beef between the two or PS/Nintendo splits over which game was better? There was mario v sonic and mario v crash but was there ever a Link v Cloud longstanding rivalry in terms of their quality?

Which do you think is better and why?
