It's a masterpiece, but yeah I can understand how it'd be disappointing for people who watched the movie back the and wanted to take control of the Major and play a sort of 3rd person action game.
The GITS game wasn't even based on the movie, it's an original story, and was based on the manga. Fuchikomas don't even appear on the movie.
However, the GITS game is super unique, and it's cool how you're actually a rookie under the command of the major.

Based as fuck. This is one of my favorite playstation games and it doesn't get nearly enough the recognition it deserves.

Do play the game, I think it's one of the best on PS1 imo. Very unique controls and physics.

>i always wanted to try the PSP game more than this one.
The PS2 and PSP games are way more generic, and the Tachikoma missions don't ever come close to the swift controls on the PS1 game.
They were made by different developers.

Right, Ghost in the Shell was also made by Exact and has similar physics. One of my favorite PS1 games. Man I wish Sony wouldn't have dissolved Exact.

The game it's not that difficult when you get used to use L and R to strife sideways, and you can also press both L and R at the same time to dash forward and backward.

Great series, and the only first-person game I like.

As in every JF thread, I'll also reccommend Ghost in the Shell for PS1, it was made by the same dev team and while the gameplay is not like JF, it has the same kind of cuhrazey physics.
