I love its intro. The song and visuals are epic. One day I hope to have the time and energy to play it. After the great first couple games, I look forward to trying it out. All I can say is the intro is cool.

The Luca hate is strong, pretty good that it gave motivation to defaat a generically evil for evil's sake villain. I chose Kasumi.

I focused more the the female characters. Tough decisions.

I liked how someone low level with a whole bunch of more powerful characters would just instantly level up just fighting with them. The numbers/level constantly rolling up seems to have that winning a jackpot in a slot machine feeling to me.

I will admit I played through the first couple games with the assistance of gamefaqs. I still found them enjoyable for the stories alone. For the 2nd game, aside from the Langrisser-styled tactics segments (replacing the first's Dragon Force-like army battles), battles are pretty fast and like Ys-like experience system keeps the pacing (it is amusing to make a low level just instantly right where they should be just for participation). So you can just get right to the story bits if that's what you're into. It does feel like you progress in building a home (Dark Cloud-like?). I would say it is worth playing anytime, and I think you will put it up there with your favorites like Chrono Trigger as I do (however, I have not played any SMT games).

I'm on team Nanami.

I attribute it to how everyone can finish games faster than I. They say Chrono Trigger is a 20 hour RPG, my savegame says 70 hours. My Suikoden 1 says over 40 hours. It just lends credence to how I am slow in the head.

Tough choice for me too. Until I saw >>4060285 and I will say Kasumi too.

I have only played the first two. My friend says they are all great, just some are not as great as the others. I should start playing 3 and get the rest someday, but I sort of want to restart and marathon the epicness from the beginning. So based on 1 and 2 alone, I will say jump in on either, play it and I think you'd have a good time either way.

To everyone else, this is a great thread, don't hurt me for not playing 3 or any other yet. It sounds like Tactics is worth a look. How about the GBA ones? Or the PSP visual novels?
