I'll keep the thread going with a couple more disappointments of mine that should've delivered the goods... so I want to talk about Yu-Gi-Oh! Reshef of Destruction for GBA
I quite enjoyed its predecessor, Sacred Cards, the main issue that had was that it was short, too easy, and had no New Game + at all... so what did they do?
Well, they gave us a much larger and unique story, upped the difficulty, and added content after the final boss... perfect, right?
No... their idea of difficulty was to make the grinding here worse than in Forbidden Memories for PS1
So many issues, card prices are too high, you get almost nothing for winning, your LP doesn't restore between duels... they just over did it and it's a chore to play
Also whoever had the idea for that stupid cursor scanning the whole screen after everything you do is a miserable bastard who wasted my precious time

I've always loved Kazuki Takahashi's Yu-Gi-Oh! for being a love letter to all forms of gaming, and when we got to the point where the card game became dominant, I loved it too, in its own way. Nowadays there are plenty of F2P CCGs available, but back in the 1990's and 2000's if you wanted a video game like that, your only real option was any of Konami's Yu-Gi-Oh! video games, besides Shandalar I suppose. We had tons of them, some following the official OCG/TCG rules, some being more experimental before we had those official rules to begin with, and some being their own completely different thing.

>Have you played any Yu-Gi-Oh! video games before?
>Which ones have you managed to complete?
>Are you playing any at the moment?
>What do you think of the series video game adaptations on the whole?

So far I've completed Forbidden Memories (PS1), Duel Monsters (GB), Dark Duel Stories (GBC), Sacred Cards (GBA), Eternal Duelist Soul (GBA)... and just recently I went ahead and finished off Stairway to the Destined Duel (GBA) and I love all of the ones I've completed for a variety of different reasons. I'm quite fond of those that manage to follow the official OCG/TCG rules, as early Yu-Gi-Oh! was fun to play, even if it was always an unbalanced mess... but I also love the ones with experimental rules which are simpler, they have charm to them and remind me of the early manga/anime, which I'm fond of.

Well, I've managed to pull it off, my deck building skills aren't anything special, but I made sure to make the most out of what I had and it worked. I took on Seto, since he was the last one remaining to unlock DarkNite, all I had to do was win 5 times, but it took a while, since he beat me most of the time, afterall his deck was stacked with playsets of cards which are limited for the player, still I eventually won, it helps that my drops in the first 3 wins were sublime: La Jinn, Dark Elf and Bistro Butcher. DarkNite was a lot easier than Seto, which is odd since his deck is just as broken, if not more, he even has Jirai Gumo, a 2200ATK Lv. 4. I lost to DarkNite a few times, but way less than I did to Seto, and my 5 wins came quickly, after that he gave me a password for the credits and it was done. I know there are extra duelists after that, but it's just bonus content, I'm satisfied with just completing it normally, for now at least. I love Dark Duel Stories, just wish it had less grinding, less cards with 1/2048 drop rates and less opponents with a playset of cards that are limited for being broken, still a fun and charming experience though.

Thanks! It was one of the happiest moments I've had with video games by far, with such a ridiculously low drop rate, it was a pleasant surprise to say the least.
