It was the opposite in my experience. My main circle of friends all decided upon getting the NGPC and fully supporting the system. Unfortunately, I was broke so I was the only one without the NGPC, but on our bi-monthy gatherings it was a staple to play on the NGPC while others were on the consoles. Linking up for some Card Fighters or exploring the Dreamcast connectivity was interesting. The NGPC became really cheap and bundled like 4 games in a pack, and that's when it became my 2nd ever portable I got after the TurboExpress. I still favor the NGPC over many other portable systems, but admittedly I never played any Pocket Monsters, only the Pinball. The must have game on the system in my opinion is SNK Vs. Capcom: Match of the Millennium.

I have fond memories playing the games on it. My circle of friends all got it in its day, and it was a shame the system's time was limited, but we had a lot of fun with the games. I would say it is best in a community setting, and totally worth it.

It was a great portable that all my friends got. Great memories of hanging out linking the systems playing against one another or linking to the Dreamcast games. Laying about playing Sonic, Cotton, Card Fighters, Match of the Millennium, etc. was a great time. I couldn't afford one, but a friend gave me theirs and it was the 2nd portable I ever got after the TurboExpress. Sure the GBA had more popular stuff, but it lacks the charm to me of the NGPC.

All my friends bought the NGPC and games. It was a system that had a lot of fun games we all played. Although it did not have a massive library, everything I played on it was quality.

Yeah, that one is really fun, probably one of my favorite shooting games on the system. It is up there with Area 88/U.N. Squadron. Most did come from Japan, but some came from importers or local stores.

I think the NeoGeo and NeoGeo Pocket Color has less than 85%.

My 2nd ever portable system after the TurboExpress, but grew to become my favorite portable gaming system. Love the games, and I lament that Aruze was unable to support the system. All my friends got the system and we had great times playing the games linked.

The system does not have an analog stick. Besides, who wonders that to begin with? When it was being released, SNK was not in the best of financial positions, like Sega was with the Dreamcast, so there's no mystery there. Even back then everyone knew it was a system in a market with a clear cut leader, that did not stop my friends from getting it. I have great memories playing the games with my friends, and I still play the system to this day, so I don't see it as a failure.

Always was. The gimmick was interesting but didn't add too much to KOF, CVS(1), and Cool Cool Toon.

Wow! I wished those were available where I lived. In its day, all my friends bought the NeoGeo Pocket Color and they all loved it, but I was too poor to even get one. The one I have now was gifted by one of those friends. That package has some amazing games, and I am super jealous you got a few of those packs.

I have since gotten the NeoGeo Pocket SD, and it is a great flashcart for the system, but I still want to get some more of those actual cartridges. Those 6 are an outstanding collection to start out with for the system.

I am looking for a PSPgo, but they go for $140+ in my area, and that's well beyond the $100 OP has available. I read that the Go can sync up to a Dualshock 3 and output component, which would be ideal for me. Each one of those devices serve a unique purpose for me, like the phone also acts as my phone.

I love the system too, but the games are so expensive. I would love to get the Flash Cart, and it looks like another batch got sent out since my place on the waiting list is at a better standing but still probably closer to the tail end. I know every youtuber got one now as they have been showing it off everywhere just taunting me, possibly jumping the line. However, I will be very happy if I get the flash cart as there are still so many games I want to play on the system.

I would say choose a color one. The original B&W ones have nice color shells, but cannot play the color games. Whereas the color systems are backwards compatible. I know there was a slightly smaller/slimmer version of the color, but I have not tried it (nor could I tell the difference until someone showed the difference to me).

The battery life is pretty good. Know that the systems also will need a CR2032 battery too which is covered up by a piece of plastic which you are supposed to turn with a coin. I would recommend you find something softer, as metal on plastic can tear the softer plastic.

I do love this system. In those days, all my friends got the system and everyone loved it. It was a shame I couldn't afford to get one myself, but I am thankful one gave me this last year. It was a wonderful time for games, we'd gather every 2 weeks, show off our newest stuff from SFC, PS, SS, N64, DC, and PC while those who were not on the multiplayer games on the TVs were either playing the NGPC or Magic: The Gathering. Shame once SNK got bought by Aruze they cancelled all NGPC projects. I guess it was too much to hope for a long life like the NeoGeo AES.

I wish I can afford the games for this system. I missed out on that flash cart everyone else got for the NGPC. I still think even though I signed up for the e-mails, I have a suspicion my one ticket for the flash cart probably got ignored from someone else to get it.

What does one do to earn the kind of cash to achieve this? I need to know, because I am so jealous.
