Is Super Mario RPG actually even good enough to justify a remake?

Nobody really cared about it much way back then, so it's weird seeing people (mostly zoomers) hyping up the remake

midwit: check every time to see which of the stat boosts on levelup is slightly bigger
neanderthal/genius: just boost the stats each character is actually going to use

I enjoyed Super Mario RPG.

Why the fuck is this game so hard? I rented it from blockbuster as a kid and hated it, decided to give it another try.
Every single enemy kills me, every single time. If I walk into a mouse = dead. If I get a trick treasure chest = dead. I'm seriously considering looking up if there's game genie cheats for infinite health just so I can even see what the rest of the game looks like. Or maybe emulate and use savestates as heavily as possible but I fear that may not be enough.
Never before have I had a game make me this angry.

Next game I play will be Super Mario RPG. It’ll be the first time I play it. Any tips going into it?

This was part of my childhood and the reason I had this game, in particular, was because I had an older sibling... but I probably would have never played this game otherwise.

Is there any way to remove Mario from the party? ROM hack, game genie code, etc.?

beat it for the first time the other day now i'm onto it again. the minigames are pretty annoying, idk if there's a way to reduce input lag on snes9x that might help, but besides that it's fun if a bit short, and the characters are unique.

Literally unplayable due to incredibly shitty graphics. It needs a remake in the style of Link's Awakening on Switch.

30min in and I'm bored out of my mind.
Does it get better?
Neither the story nor the gameplay seem fun or to get any deeper.

Was this game anyone else's introduction to RPGs?

Took me 23 years to finish this. Finally over it and I can move on.

Thoughts on this game?

I don't like how the levels are designed to be so boxy and linear. Its just 'run through and win battles', but I guess its an RPG and that's how most of them are like.

Growing up, I had a severely bipolar older sister who was extremely dangerous and would flip out and get violent at a drop of a hat. You never knew what would set her off. She would hit me a lot, and she particularly hated my mom. She used to beat my mom very often. My parents sent her to a million psychiatrists and therapists, but she had a particularly bad case. She's been to three stays in psychiatric hospitals, but she just got released and would act the same. My parents had no idea what to do.

When I was 13, I was playing Mario RPG while hearing my sister screaming at my mother and beating her. I had no idea what to do, so I just kept playing the game. That happened a lot, but for some reason Mario RPG comes to mind more than any other game.

The silver lining is that I have a great job, I live alone in a beautiful house, and I'm happy for the first time in my life, in my mid-30s. Going on a first date on Sunday.

I wanted to play the game years ago but why bother if the game isn't as good as I thought it would be.
