TNFS is only worth playing really if you want 1) to experience the origins of the series or 2) actually played it back in the day and want a mostly srs bsns but not autismo racing game. It has aged the worst of all of the early titles but that is entirely down to it being on more limited hardware (strictly speaking all versions are ports of the 3DO). The best IMO of the old school games is III but most would pick high stakes/road challenge but i've got a chip on my shoulder of road challenge.

Its the PC version. Every version of need for speed 1 al the way to porsche has a different HUD depending on platform - typically the PS1 has the best HUD setup. This is what the PS1 version looks like after some emulation enhancements.
