I think there are probably some people who don't enjoy pinball but would enjoy it if they took the time to learn some basic ball control and aiming skills.

I can only speak for myself, but in my case the vast majority of operators are fine with nudging. I once heard a guy get politely reprimanded by an operator for a pretty intense shake save, but other than that, they mostly understand that it's part of the game.
Also: nudging is important but not that important. You can get pretty good scores just with flipper skills and aiming.
