It's just classic tendie revisionism in full effect, as always, its happening right now to N64 and Game Cube despite anyone rational knowing that both of them sucked and had barely any software to it.

I see, fair points to be honest. I really like this genre, the feeling of a connected world to explore, and being able to explore it more and more as it goes along, to the point where, by the end of the adventure I can go anywhere, whenever I please, it's satisfying... but indeed there is A LOT of backtracking and, at least to me, less replay value than other genres... because once you know the correct order, the replay is 10x less engaging than your 1st time through it unfortunately. It's not a perfect genre at all, but it gave us some fine titles to me.

I mean, it's not wrong, there was the Game Boy Player for Game Cube and it's how a lot of people played their GBA cartridges, on their CRT TVs, so you're commiting no sin, anon.

I'm not saying they should've done differently, the original Game Boy was revolutionary, but it's still garbage and handhelds only got good when Nintendo made the GBA SP, the real sin was taking over a decade to make anything 8-Bit and even longer to add a backlight.

I was born in the 90's and was hyped for the GBA only to be disappointed with it still having a barely visible screen to play on.
