Deathlord. This game is really cool, it's Satan's RPG.

>you die once? it writes it to your save file so you have to start over from the beginning.

NES RPGs are child's play compared to this. It was also near a C64 exclusive as the only other system it was on was the Apple II (I'm stunned that they didn't have a DOS PC port for a game released as late as 1988).
