This is, quite possibly, *THE* most overrated game of all time. It's HORRENDOUS. The backgrounds are horribly convoluted and shitty to navigate. The materia system is horribly annoying. The minigames are horrible. The side-quests are horrible. The art style for most of the game is horrible.

There are worse FFs, but none of them have such high grades.

I had never played FF VII before for more than an or two so I decided to give it a try. What a massive disappointment this was.

Previous SNES FFs or VIII and IX are a million times better than this. It's so incredibly boring, the art style is so awful, Midgard is ridiculous. "It's le nearly-post-apocalyptic style" is no excuse, the world of FF IX is vivid and detailed, FF VII world is a trash heap on top of trash heaps and you do is move from a trash heap to another trash heap.

It's utterly ridiculous, the pacing is awful, takes too long to make it into the world map and it looks just as dead and rotten as everything else.

Can every plot hole, inconsistency, absurdity, mystery, and deus ex machina in this game be explained away with "the Mako did it"?
