Gotta go with Congo's Caper. I love Joe and Mac, grew up playing 1 and 2 a lot on SNES. Congo's Caper just feels a lot better with its platforming and gameplay.

Congo's Caper, the Flintstones games, Prehistoric Isle, and of course the Adventure Island series all apply. Also seconding Joe and Mac and the Bonk games. Dino City and Tomba also scale the periphery of this category. There's also Radical Rex even though most people here seem to hate it, lol
