Well, here's an update on how this is going. It ended up turning into a much bigger level than I initially indented (I've got 2 more big set-piece encounters I've sketched out)
I'm really liking the switch to UDMF, I'd only ever used doom in doom format before, and while it was tough for a couple days to learn all the new action numbers, I'm really enjoying even what little I've already learned about the scripting system, and for the first time in years am excited to learn some of the language to make even more stuff.
