Blargg's works correctly on laggy Kega Fusion, but the implementation in Genesis Plus GX isn't quite right so I need to use other shaders Some of the tvout presets work well enough without adding as much lag as crt-royale. What you have enabled there is not one of them. I think I had to manually tweak one of them to get it to pass all my Sonic 2 and Sonic Spinball test cases.

Best played with composite video or shaders that simulate it

Most of the Genesis look is just composhite video. It's uniquely terrible, which was used for free transparency effects. A good composhite shader setup on it's own looks much better than CRT without that distortion.

I have an actual Genesis and I like its games to look like that.

This shader config is working pretty well and passes all my test cases.

The blurry one is close to how it looks on my Genesis.

I never saw a Genesis connected with anything other than rf, and no one cared. Almost no one bothered to upgrade inputs until the early 00s, when consoles had enough resolution to make it worthwhile.

If Blargg's isn't good enough, you can try the tvout presets with their resolution parameter set to 160.

Runahead should never exceed the minimum.

shaders + RunAhead is the best way to play

Pixels are point samples, not squares.

What kind of filter is that?

I've settled on this composite video shit that passes all my test cases and doesn't ass-pull any information or produce any false positives or negatives so it works for everything.

In my onion, the right kind of blur improves everything.

Cam it do real transparency or is it as limited as Genesis?

Genesis can't do real transparency and it also makes your kids gay NTTAWWT

I want to fill every screen with vertical stripes so composite video's horizontal Gaussian blur is needed to see anything.

I'm enjoying these curves :-)

You'd never listen to music as a series of individual samples. Why should lines of video be any different?
