Another interesting Resident Evil costume fact: the GameCube version of RE3 is a port of the PC version, but which also uses some data from the PSX original and gimped the PC version bonuses. Despite not being accessible in the game, the 2 extra costumes from the PC version are in the files.

On top of this is a third costume. The naming of the file indicates that it was made/intended for the PC ports, yet doesn't exist in the final retail PC versions. However the file can be used, as-in, simply by renaming it, in the PC versions of the game.

>it's worth noting that the GC versions of 2/3 are based on the PS1 versions

That is incorrect. People only assume this because it doesn't have the extra content of the PC/DC versions, and you repeat that information without checking up on it.

They are based on the PC versions and use PSX version content when they have no choice: for instance some backgrounds in the PC/DC versions of RE3 are actually non final and are missing some stuff, in those cases the GC version uses the PSX backgrounds. Otherwise it uses the PC version backgrounds.

An unused costume can be found in the GC version of RE3 (pic related, the file put back in the PC version as is), the naming of the file indicates it was intended for the PC version. That and the file/folder structure is identical to PC.
