Alright /vr/ if they were to make a new metal slug, THE metal slug to trump Metal slug 3, what would you have be the key features?

Mine would be:

>Revamped hand-drawn sprites
Metal slug took the world by storm with it's beautiful pixel art, now would be the time for it to do it again only without any technological limitations. Each frame has to have an appropriate amount of shading similar to the new KOF and detail so it won't look cheap. Only the best. And no retracing the original sprites either, this shit needs to be done properly.

>Branching level paths
Once you're done with a mission you get to decide which mission you take on next. Something like pic related. This would make it the biggest metal slug game, without sacrificing any of it's arcade pick-up-and-play style, AS WELL AS making it highly replayable. On top of that, why not have even more branching paths like the ones in MS3 and beyond for even MORE replayability?

>Four player co-op
Widescreen exists now, and sunset riders worked well enough. Finally having the whole metal slug team on screen along with three of your buddies would make for the ultimate gaming session.

>Weapon pick-up/drop-down
When you pick up a heavy machine gun with some shotgun shots still in your gun you'll drop a partially depleted Shotgun for you to either use later or have another player use. This would relieve some frustration from hesitating to pick up a weapon and leaving the other player with just their pistol

>GOOD level design
Nothing like 4, 5, and 6's faggotry. Good, fair shit like 1-3 yet still an arcade-challenge. The requirement being that you'll be able to survive/recover with just your pistol if you're good enough. Grenades, special weapons, and vehicles are only there for convenience.

Not to mention, over two dozen fucking levels.
Yeah, basically palette swaps of helmets and fish, but still pretty huge for the era. And yes, I know this is the Darius 2 map.
