I've been doing a 16-bit summer and I've already played all the SNES games I'm interested in. What Mega Drive games would you recommend playing during the summer?

I do like the design of the Genesis but think the big GENESIS logo somewhat ruins the look a bit. I prefer the JP/PAL models

Why would you call it the Genesis if it's SEGA'S third console?

What was the point of renaming it for the American market? Did SEGA not realise that Americans are dumb and probably don't know what a, "genesis" is? Or that they'd react better to words like, "mega"?

For me it's the Sega Mega Drive.

I get that Blast Processing is a meme, but there really is something about the breakneck speed of a lot of Genesis games. SMW and Yoshi's Island are some of my favorite games of all time, but they are very slow-moving. Then on Genesis you have these fucking insanely fast adrenaline-fueled games like Sonic 3&K, Contra Hard Corps, Alien Soldier, Gunstar Heroes, Castlevania Bloodlines, Strider, Shinobi III, stuff like that
I think it's a matter of preference, of course. If you prefer a more "console-like" experience, as I think most have become accustomed to now, you'll prefer the SNES. If you prefer a more "arcade-like" experience, you're guaranteed to prefer the Genesis.

Why did it flop in Japan?

This is Sega's 4th generation video game console. It is called the Sega Mega Drive.

Give me some good ass arcade-style genesis games that take 30 mins to an hour to beat. Im in the mood for that today.

Why are so many games on this system relatively short 6-12 stage games usually lasting an hour? SNES games usually have alot more content.

Only if you have an older model 1 genesis with the better composite encoder. After that the composite output sucks.

So why exactly are we not allowed to like it?

Every boomer e celeb i watch always talked about Super Nintendo vs Genesis and that kids back then picked 1. But so far, every e celeb i watched grew up with the Super Nintendo. I dont know a single boomer e celeb that was a "Sega kid".

So, did they actually exist? Or were 99% of people Super Nintendo people?

No one is arguing in good faith. At least list what you find to be the top on each system, preferably by genre, and judge on that. And no fucking ports. I'm only casually familiar with these but here's my attempt at a fair comparison:
