I love my JXD S7300 myself, currently going through Shining Force Resurrection of the Dark Dragon on it. After that I want to finish up Der Langrisser.

This can emulate all of those systems, and it can output video over HDMI on top of being a handheld. Not to mention playing Android games well.

While not really pocket sized, I also have an S7300 and love it.

I've been eyeballing this thing for a while. 7 inch android tablet with buttons for $140. Someone convince me to buy it please.

Wouldn't an S7300 be a better option? I think it is cheaper in addition to being rooted from the get-go, and having better hardware (plus more controls).

The S7300 can do both browsing and vidya at the same time, since it's based on the android OS that all tablets and android smartphones are based on. I lurk 4chan all the time on it, check emails, and do whatever else I feel like. Android is a very flexible OS. The S7300 can handle up to PS1 and N64 just fine, has a much larger screen (7 in vs. 4.3 in if I remember right). It's also only $150.

Here are the minuses of the S7300: it's vidya battery life is only 4-5 hours by itself. If you're just browsing the web or doing something else, it's a little more than that, but the battery life isn't as great regardless. It also has only vidya buttons so you'll have to deal with a touchscreen keyboard if you want to type stuff out, which is a little annoying compared to a nice physical keyboard. And also, the Open Pandora runs on Linux, which does have a couple advantages over Android.

I'm not sure if you want an S7300, since the battery life isn't up to around 10 hours. Normally I'd think people could just plug in by the end, but you sound like you might not have that capability during your trip. Still, just thought I'd mention it.

Further information on the S7300, just a couple little things that kind of bug me about it.

First, N64 and PSX games will sometimes lag if your tablet has been on for a while. I have no idea why this is, but a restart will clear it right up and they'll run smooth again. It's doesn't really bother me much, but it is kind of weird. You can play a PSX game like 3 hours straight and nothing will change, but start dicking around on the internet or in some other emulators and N64 or PSX emulator will start stuttering until you restart.

Also, with NCCE, occasionally your tablet won't wake up from being asleep. The screen will just stay dark and you'll just need to shut off and on again. I've heard you can fix this by removing the NCPU App, which allows you to set the governors and speed of your processor, but I honestly like having that option so I haven't removed it.

Those are the only two things that are negative about the S7300 so far, they don't really bother me but I felt people would like to know.
