Where are the system board photos coming from? I'm loathe to take my systems apart even when necessary, and since I live in the dark, my photos are always blurry and/or grainy. I don't want to make a lightbox, and my portable lighting options are minimal and/or shit.

I DO have a pretty radical scanner, a BlackBerry Z10, a Sony Mavica MVC-FD200, and a massive collection, buuuut like I said, shit in the way of lamps, and nowhere in my house is suitable for taking studio-quality photos.

Here is a pretty shot of one of my mutant Genesis 2 boards. The chip there is a signal filter, but damned if I know what it's filtering.

GAMEBOY HAS LINES MISSING:
You need to re-flow the solder that connects the ribbon cable to the screen. Use a low-power soldering iron with a flat tip if you can. There are guides for this repair online. Do research before attempting, and your GB will be as good as new again.

CD SYSTEM NO LONGER READS DISCS
Usually replacing the laser assembly will fix this. Laser diodes wear out over time. You may notice this with old laser pointers, as even with new batteries, the laser is dim. This is easy to do with systems like the Dreamcast, a little less easy with the Saturn. Not hard with the original PSX, but other systems tend to be a MOTHERFUCKER to fix, mainly due to a lack of spare parts or documentation. The Goldstar 3DO fuckes off much faster than the Panasonic models.

Again, there are guides. Look before you touch! I've used youtube to install a Saturn mod chip, replace an HTC phone's screen, build my goddamn AR-15, do minor gunsmithing work on my pistols, and even to build new components for my cars' electronic systems.

Use the internet for what it was made for. Information and education.
