I can definitely see how Eggette came about, but Captain Vidya is really stretching that anyone could actually see that face from the original sprite. As a joke/design I like it though.
Haggard I didn't know about until now, but it's pretty funny. Again seems like it was by design rather than an accident, but I guess that's not a problem.

I could see them all being villains in some kind of Sonic spinoff together, trying to free Eggman from prison or something.

I don't have any desire for them. They're literally just an emulator in a nice package, so I may as well play all the games on my laptop that can run more titles, has more display options and more controller settings etc.
Otherwise, if I wanted to get really dedicated, I can play on original hardware with an OSSC or a CRT television.

The mini consoles aren't made for me though, they're made for people that don't have a laptop or don't know how to emulate and just want to buy something to plug into the TV and play. That's fine. It's also made for people who like collecting trinkets, and that's fine too.

Sega realised this with the Game Gear Micro by making it in four colours, so collectors would need to buy it four times.
