/vr/ - Retro Games

I recently picked up a new2DS XL, and have been messing around with emulation on it after I softmodded.

PS1 emulation is getting better. Theres a forwarder that creates 3DS 'apps' ('cia) to make ps1 games into homescreens apps. It works surprisingly well, and things like THPS2, Red alert, Megaman 8 all work really well (near 'perfect')

NES, SNES, GB(C) all work flawlessly.

Theres a native diablo port for it that works really well considering it was ported by a noob.

DOSBox is shit on it. Had issues running old stuff. Crystal Caves had severe graphical issues (for some reason), Keen 1 and Duke 1 were choppy, Street Rods 2 crashed. You might have better luck, but I couldnt be fucked after it. Also, after changing any settings it crashes and shuts the system down.

It runs GBA\DS\3DS games natively obviously, so retro ports like mario 64(ds), zelda OOT and MM, etc all work flawlessly.

Theres shit like a DS portal homebrew port, Quake 3 Arena port, doom\quake\duke3d port, half life 1 port, etc that I havent tried yet but is supposed to be good.

They are stupid cheap at the moment on classifieds (avoid ebay). Id recommend for 8 and 16 bit, with partial ps1 support
