/vr/ - Retro Games

So I installed the PC version, and while it works, the controls are fucked up. I'm using it alongside a DualShock 3, which works perfectly with emulators and other PC games, but here, the button configuration is all weird, like jump is mapped to Square for some reason and Attack is mapped to Circle, even though I set it to use Cross. Also, the right analog stick doesn't seem to do anything, except for some reason Start is mapped to fucking R3. I tried manually setting it up, but I can't progress past the right analog mappings because it won't recognize some of the directions like up. Anyone know what the fuck is going on here?

Anyone have tips for the Phoenix Cave? I have every character except Gogo, Umaro and Locke, and I'd like to get Locke as soon as possible as apparently bosses actually have shit worth stealing and I'd like to have him on hand for as many as I can (already missed out on a fair few). I tried going in with characters in the 40's, but got my ass handed to me on arrival.

Since we're in the subject of ancient-as-fuck programs and games now as well, growing up in Mexico, there was a cool little DOS program that was supposed to let you talk to spirits that made the rounds pretty widely (think it went by various names like ouija.exe). It directed you to recite an incantation before presenting you with a spirit with a name and everything, and you were supposed to ask a question aloud for it to answer.

The fun thing about this program is that it was really a tool for messing with whoever else was in the room with you that was not "in the know". How it actually worked is the other person was supposed to ask the question aloud, then you would type a period followed by the answer, and as you typed, what would actually show up on the screen is something akin to "please answer the question", hiding what you were actually typing. Then you would press enter, and the answer you typed would appear, hopefully freaking out the other person if they were gullible enough.

I recall my older brother and cousins used it quite a bit to scare the shit out of my girl cousins. I just found it creepy, until I learned the trick, that is.
