Yuck. I definitely prefer when the scanline effect is subtle to the point where you don't really notice it's there. The phosphors should look like they're woven into a complete image, not just a uniform bright line straight across.

Based

Some people like pixely shit, because it's the easiest to get and they don't want to put in effort
Some like thick scanlines, since PVMs aren't so easy to get and make them special
But the golden middle point is just a typical concumer set that still have a bright and colorful picture, plus can be picked up for 5 bucks from any boomers addic

Just use BFI if you really need to use 240p on a 31kHz display.

It's the same as PVM retardation. For some reason ugly black lines between your sprites is COOL.

>>8700817
Not hardcoded games like when emulating old consoles.

Friendly reminder that high TVL PVM's sets destroy sprite that the dev intended you to see.

Nah, 240p is fine, just less TV lines and maybe slot or shadow mask instead
Heck even AG with less TV lines doesn't look as fucked up like pic related

Based, it's nice to see the PVM meme finally being challenged. Thick scanlines and too sharp picture are awful for /vr/, only reason it took off was the CRTs being high end.

Why would I pay extra for thick and distracting scanlines and a picture way to sharp for most /vr/ generation games?
PVMs are a meme.

Best to play on TVs with lower TVL and bigger pitch size. Specially shador or slot mask.
Slot mask in general is best of both worlds.

Just because they are the best 15kHz CRTs doesn't mean they are the best tool for a specific job, in this case, retro-gaming.

Here's a high TVL count Sony PVM vs a low TVL counts concumer Trinitron. You can see the TVL difference clearly.
