Pls respond friendos

Anyone got the patch for NC HUD + Weapon Selection Menu? I know it exists because the author published a screenshot, but I never saw a link.

What source port should I use for playing Heretic and Hexen for the first time?

I have Crispy-Doom and GZDoom installed. Crispy Doom says I require the Heretic Doom binary, but after looking it up it seems development is discontinued? Plugging it into GZDoom works just fine though, apparently.

Is there another recommended port for those two?

>Enemies spawn from the edges of the screen. This is a problem because if you want to get from point a to point b, you have to slow down your gameplay because if you don't you risk hitting enemies as you move screens.
Have you considered that combat is a part of gameplay?
>Shit visuals (this is a problem because the nes was capable of better.
Average visuals for the era.
>Cryptic secrets (yeah, I could get a guide, but isn't that indicative of bad game design? Who honestly knew to whistle at the lake to summon that dungeon when the whistle wasn't even explained?)
Sorry to hear you need someone to hold your hand through an adventure game.
>One overworld soundtrack (this is one of the bigger complaints here because with so many varied areas in hyrule, they couldn't put in more music?)
It had as many tracks as it's antithesis, SMB, and other games of it's time.
>This is honestly a boring game. But with nothing else like it to play, I can't really sit here and blame people who played this in the 80s. However, a lot of time has passed since then, so what I can ask is for everyone to look at this game with a critical eye and not treat it like the best game on the nes.
>a lot of time has passed since then, so...
I wish you wrote this at the beginning, so I could stop reading right there. If you want to discuss old games from a modern perspective, go back to /v/.
