>ugly no colors
Where do these myths keep coming from? The Mega Drive was better at vivid and saturated colours than the SNES.

Putting aside audio for a moment, the main thing the Mega Drive offers over the SNES is the massive CPU and DMA advantage it has, which, paired with a very clean architecture, made it a very capable system for fast-paced arcade action. Mega Drive action games have a sense of general fast pace, a smoothness, and instantaneous input response which you simply don't see on the SNES.

When you are used to games playing with this fluidity and speed, the lack of it on SNES really stands out, if anything I consider SNES games to feel "cheap" because of this.
Other games where this is readily apparent are all the Treasure titles such as Gunstar Heroes and Alien Soldier, Thunder Force IV, Rocket Knight. And, all have excellent sound and music as well.

Konami because they made MSX, Mega Drive, and PC Engine games. Capcom's efforts were kneecapped by being largely confined to bottlenecked and shoddy hardware prior the PlayStation.

Contra 3 has WAY too many slowdowns, and those terrible gimmicky rotation stages that constitute 1/3 of the game. No, thank you. Hard Corps curbstomps it, it's not even close.

Uh-huh, and is the mythical "australian" in this thread?
>>9890278
Absolutely not, it was rife with nauseating slowdowns, terrible AI's, low resolution, the "explosions" sound like a bubble machine, not to mention those gimmicky and terrible overview stages, Contra 3 was absolutely a skid mark on an otherwise excellent arcade series, but, what can one realistically expect from the 2.68 mhz trash heap SNES, it was simply never up to task for those types of games, such a shame Konami wasted so much of their time on it.

Bitter nintendrones that don't want to admit that all the good Contra games were not on their shoddy hardwares.
