Gnasty and his minions aren't that smart. Plus, it's not like Spyro starts at level 1 so to speak, and in terms of character is no weaker at the start of the game than he is at the end apart from how many lives you have and how skilled the player has become.

I thought that as far as names go, Ripto's Rage worked fairly well due to how angry the little bastard seemed, whereas Gateway to Glimmer only referenced one level. Maybe something like "Adventures in Avalar" might have worked better for Europe, though I'm still questioning why they even changed the name from Ripto's Rage in the first place.
